Larry Heller, CFP®, CDFA®, CPA

President

While he may not have coined the term ‘financial resilience’, in many ways Larry is the epitome of both its meaning and its measure. His own journey and story is one of remarkable personal resilience as well as inspiring professional growth and achievement.

His first foray into the realm of financial planning began at age 19 with the passing of his father. Faced with having to help his mother reconfigure the family’s finances while finding a way to fund his own as well as his sister’s college education, Larry realized he had both a passion and a budding talent for financial planning and investing.

Larry began his career at Coopers & Lybrand, a Big Eight Accounting firm where he earned his CPA certificate. Afterwards, Larry joined a large brokerage firm where his next ‘life-lesson’ was the realization that the clients’ best interests and those of the firm were – to put it diplomatically – mutually exclusive. Disillusioned by what he saw as a disconnect between the customers’ priorities and those of the company, he left to pursue his CFP® and – ultimately – to found his own financial planning and investment advisory firm.

Heller Wealth Management opened its door under the auspices and clear-eyed understanding that the firm’s success and that of its clients are inextricably linked. And that the mission and goals of the company can best be realized only when they are in complete alignment with – and full support of – those of its clients.

Recognized, respected, relatable – and readable.

Larry’s missionary zeal for creating robust and resilient financial plans and life-long financial security for others isn’t confined solely to the office. His passion for a disciplined, dedicated and proactive approach to planning, building and maintaining genuine financial security and independence has been the subject of numerous media interviews, featured articles, industry accolades and his own highly popular podcast, ‘Life Unlimited’, (formerly the Retire Right Podcast).

When it comes to financial planning for retirement, Larry wrote the book ( literally ) on how to do it right. Since its initial publication, Retire Right: Lots of People Retire Wrong. Learn How to Retire Right  has garnered praise from both the press and peers.  Over the years, Larry has authored articles for or has been extensively quoted in Barrons, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Market Watch, Bloomberg Wealth Management, Market Watch, Financial Planning Magazine and more.

Larry has been Recognized by Forbes as Best-in-State for Wealth Advisor in 2020 and 2021. He also has appeared multiple times on Yahoo Finance TV, Good Day NY, the Jim Bohannon Show, CNN and many others.

When he has time, Larry can still muster up a mean serve in singles tennis, loves both the agony and the ecstasy of golf, and has recently rediscovered the joy of cycling on his Peloton. Downtime at home means uptime for his turntable and classic Rock & Roll ( on vinyl of course ). He can also be found at Brooklyn Nets games with his three  adult sons – all of whom share his unabashed passion for basketball.
